WikiGyan at ISiM – a case study:

ISiM – the educational endeavour of InfoVision offers a multidisciplinary masters program in information systems management. This new model of interfacing an academic program with an information system development project is being pioneered at ISiM. This is an experiment in development centric educational endeavour.

WikiGyan@ISiM is essentially a case study of integrating academic learning with a development oriented information system. Our approach specifically involves the following

Mapping and massaging the curriculum to project work. Each course and its objectives were mapped to the WikiGyan requirements and deliverables.

Linking of Course Credits to project performance, deliverables and project outcomes. Learn, Earn, and Develop (LED Model) - Students learn software development, product development, System integration, project management; earn credits for each of the courses for their WikiGyan contribution; Development WikiGyan modules.

Project Management – learning and execution of a Open Community Project.x

Effective Monitoring & mentoring through review meetings & information sharing & consultancy by the experts from the industry.

Understanding of the problems through grass roots workers of the NGOs.
