Deepak Maheshwari is an expert on policy and regulation pertaining to various aspects of the Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) like policy, licensing, economic & technical regulation, spectrum management & pricing, e-commerce & cyberlaw, etc. He has a keen interest in studying, analyzing and researching the role of ICT in the larger socio-economic context, especially in relation to e-governance, tele-medicine, distance education and e-Commerce. He is often invited to speak in various ICT related events and his articles, views and reviews appear in various publications as well as in the electronic media.
He has made significant contribution to the formation of the ISP policy and subsequent developments like setting up of international gateways and opening up of Internet telephony. He has also been working on issues related to broadband, BPO and bandwidth - domestic as well as international.
He interacts regularly with Ministry of Communications & Information Technology as well as with Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. He has been pro-actively participating in the ongoing exercise of tariff rebalancing & interconnection issues.
He is the Secretary of the ISP Association of India, Besides being a member of the ICT related committees of CII, FICCI & Assocham, he is the joint secretary of ITU-APT Federation of India and a founding member of the BPO Foundation of India as well as that of the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI).
He works as the General Manager Corporate Affairs with Sify Limited, Indias leading ISP & E-commerce Company. He graduated in engineering from IT-BHU, Varanasi in 1989 and has more than 16 years of rich work experience. Prior to joining Sify in 1999, he had looked after sales & marketing functions in HCL and Datapro.
